2018: DNF at Penzance
The Arc of Attrition. The stuff of legends. I have no right to be here, I wasn't good enough.
That's what I told myself from the start, and as I pushed my way through the mud, it went from prediction to reality.
I was exhausted by the first checkpoint at Porthleven.
By Penzance, there was no way I could carry on. I steadfastly refused to move until the timer ticked past the cutoff, and then I could go home.
"I don't even like running in the dark," I remember shouting sometime in the middle of it all.
