2019: DNF near Pendeen

It snowed on the drive to Cornwall. I suffered a 2 hours delay, others behind me weren't so lucky, several sleeping on the floor of an inn and arriving at the start not in great shape.

But the sun shone, and my legs worked, and soon I was hours ahead of where I had been the previous year.

On leaving Penzance - into new terrain - I was buzzing (which was partly down to a lot of coffee!). I absolutely loved coming into Lamorna, that memory is still the pinnacle of ultramarathon joy in my head.

A niggle knee coming into Land's End had me speaking to the physio, who told me it was only going to get worst. Pah! You can't stop me!

At Pendeen, I conceded defeat. I couldn't bend my leg. I still had a smile on my face and a desire in my heart, but thought it a little irresponsible to head into the badlands towards Zennor being unable to walk. And so there it ended.
